Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti is convinced that Martin Odegaard, the club’s latest signing, has a great future ahead of him.

Ancelotti's Los Blancos edged out a number of European heavyweights to sign the Norwegian teen sensation earlier this week on a six-and-a-half-year contract, with Odegaard thought to be earning €2.25m per year at the Bernabeu.

It was a long drawn out transfer saga that saw Odegaard spend time at the training facilities of Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester City, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and Barcelona.

However, Ancelotti believes that the youngster is good enough to warrant the hype around him and is convinced that he has a bright future in football.

He also added that the club have a clear plan charted out for the youngster that involves the 16-year-old playing for Real Madrid Castilla, but training with the first team.

Ancelotti remained non-committal about when Odegaard will play for the European champions' senior team, however said that a decision will be taken in the summer.

“Martin is a player we all love because of his high quality”, Ancelotti said in a press conference.

“He is young and we are convinced that he has a bright future in the game.

“He will train with us and play with Castilla, which is the plan.

“I don’t know when he will play for the first team. Usually he will play for Castilla and then a decision will be taken during pre-season.

“Everyone is happy with the decision.”
