Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has insisted that winger Mohamed Salah and forward Andre Schurrle are important members of his squad at the club, amid continuing transfer speculation around the pair.

Both players have seen little action this season for a Chelsea side who are currently leading the Premier League table, and are believed to be keen on leaving the club in the winter transfer window.

Italian Serie A outfit Roma have been pressing for a loan deal for Salah for the last few days, while Bundesliga side Wolfsburg are also keen on taking Schurrle back to Germany this month.

However, Mourinho insisted that the duo remain important members of his Chelsea squad and he is not keen on losing the pair.

Though he refused to rule out a transfer for either Salah or Schurrle, the Portuguese said that both have played crucial roles for him in multiple competitions this season and will play tomorrow against Bradford City in the FA Cup.

“Salah and Schurrle are selected for tomorrow”, the Chelsea boss said in a press conference.

“I cannot say that [whether they will stay at the club beyond this month] because the window is open, but I like them, I need them and I trust them.

“Salah is not playing much, Schurrle has played more than him, but they have been involved in all the competitions for us, even in the Champions League.

“I count on them and tomorrow they are both selected.”
