Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has left the door open for new signing Krystian Bielik to be fast tracked into the first team despite his tender years.

Wenger swooped to snap up the 17-year-old midfielder from Polish giants Legia Warsaw earlier this week, paying an estimated €3m to get his man, with bonus payments potentially taking the final fee higher.

The French boss feels that Bielik will need time to adapt to life in England, while definitely ruling him out of contention for the next three weeks as he rediscovers his fitness following a winter break enjoyed by Polish clubs.

But Wenger is not ready to completely consign Bielik to simply developing in the reserves for the foreseeable future and has left the door open for the 17-year-old to spring a surprise by staking his claim for a first team place.

"I would say, considering his age, he’s more one for the future", Wenger told his club's site.

"But let’s be open minded and let [him] surprise us. The first signs that we see are very positive in training.

"Because they had the winter break in Poland, we are just at the starting point of building him up fitness-wise."

And Wenger expects a lot from the former Legia Warsaw man, dubbing him a "huge talent".

"He’s a young boy and he has a huge talent."
