Manchester United's board has given boss Louis van Gaal the green light on a swoop for Austrian international defender Aleksandar Dragovic.

The 23-year-old has impressed Van Gaal, who feels he could offer an extra option in defence, something which has led the club's board to authorise a swoop, according to Austrian daily Kronen Zeitung.

Dragovic currently turns out in the Ukraine for Dynamo Kyiv, but is open to leaving a country which has been beset by troubles and conflict.

The Red Devils are expected to offer €20m to snare Dragovic, who was also on their radar when he turned out in Switzerland for FC Basel, though it remains to be seen if Dynamo Kyiv will be in the mood to accept.
