Aston Villa have confirmed that midfielder Fabian Delph has penned a new four-and-a-half-year contract with the club, ending any doubt over his future.

Delph has been linked with quitting Villa Park this month amid the club's struggles. Liverpool have been strongly linked with the 25-year-old, who was awarded the club's Player of the Season accolade by both his team-mates and the side's fans last term.

But Delph, who joined Aston Villa in 2009 from Leeds United, intends to stay at Villa Park and has put pen to paper on a new contract, stressing he considers himself to be loyal.

The midfielder told his club's site: "The club has given me a great platform to perform and a great opportunity to showcase what I can do.

"The fans have been great with me, the chairman has been absolutely fantastic with me and I have a great relationship with the manager and I see the boys here as my brothers, my family and I am delighted to stay here.

"I am a loyal person and committing my future will hopefully show everybody what type of guy I am.

"I feel like this is me – I love the club, I love being here and I want to put 100% into everything I do here. This is my club and I want to be here. That's why I am committing my future."

Delph has made over 100 appearances for Aston Villa since joining the club, with 12 Premier League appearances under his belt for Paul Lambert's men so far this term.

The 25-year-old has won four England caps to date and has been tipped to figure strongly for the Three Lions in the future.
