Louis van Gaal's way of playing football is the right way for Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata, who insists the entire Red Devils squad are learning from the former Bayern Munich and Barcelona coach.

The Dutchman took charge at Old Trafford following last summer's World Cup, in which he guided the Netherlands to a third place finish in Brazil.

Van Gaal spent heavily over the summer to bolster the Manchester United squad, with £150m lavished, but Mata, a player he inherited and who was signed from Chelsea a year ago this month, remains a key man for the new manager.

For Mata, there is little doubt that Van Gaal has Manchester United on the right path and the midfielder is convinced the style of play the Dutchman has instituted is the right one.

"I think we are all learning from the manager", he explained to his club's site.

"He is a great character and a great coach. The way he wants to play football is the right way, which is an attacking way.

"That means we try to work hard with the ball, try to create space to pass the ball quickly and to switch it from side to side.

"I really like the way he sees football and we are all trying to do our best for him, the staff and for [assistant manager] Ryan [Giggs]."

Van Gaal's Manchester United currently sit fourth in the Premier League table after picking up 40 points from 22 games.
