Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has said that they need to carry on their positive momentum following their successive wins over Manchester City and Brighton in the Premier League and the FA Cup respectively.

Wenger’s men defeated the defending Premier League champions Manchester City 2-0 on their home turf in their last league fixture. They followed it up with a 3-2 defeat of Brighton in their fourth round FA Cup tie yesterday.

The manager, however, believes it is important for the team to carry on winning as they look to rise higher up the league table and defend the FA Cup that they won last summer.

“It’s good for us after this weekend to think we have won at Manchester City and won away again at Brighton. Not many teams come here and win in such a convincing way”, Wenger told Arsenal Player.

“I believe that the momentum is there, maybe not long enough but we can strengthen it week in, week out by showing this kind of performance”, he further added.

The Frenchman admitted his side have been boosted by Theo Walcott and Mesut Ozil’s return to the first team following their injury layoffs and believes the pair will add extra to the Gunners' powers.

“You could say that going forward, Theo and Mesut – who have only just come back – give something to the squad as well.”

Arsenal, who currently lie fifth in the Premier League, will host Aston Villa in their next league fixture on Sunday.
