Leeds United have rekindled talks between themselves and Catania over striker Edgar Cani, which has sent the Serie B side scurrying to arrange a deal for Lorenzo Rosseti.

The Whites held talks with Catania recently over snapping up Cani, but no agreement could be reached as the Italian outfit held out for a fee of €700,000.

Leeds are mooted to have offered €450,000 for a player highly rated by owner Massimo Cellino and sporting director Nicola Salerno, though it is still unclear whether Football League transfer embargo rules mean they would have to take Cani on loan until the end of the season first.

Talks are now set to resume between Catania and Leeds, according to Sportitalia, with the Serie B side exploring snapping up Rosseti, a Juventus player who is on a two-year loan at Atalanta.

Catania view Rosseti as the perfect replacement for Cani, if the Albanian is offloaded this month.

Cani has also interested other clubs, with Bari, a side he spent time on loan at last season, trying and failing to thrash out a deal with Catania earlier this month.

The Albanian was left out of Catania's matchday squad for their Serie B game on Friday evening, something which further fuelled transfer talk.
