Wolfsburg have come out strongly to deny being in talks with Chelsea to sign Andre Schurrle this month.

The Wolves have been credited with making a move to snap up Schurrle from Jose Mourinho's men in the current transfer window, with talk of a €30m offer for the former Bayer Leverkusen man doing the rounds.

But Klaus Allofs, sporting director at the Volkswagen Arena, is keen to do all he can to distance Wolfsburg from talk of a move for Schurrle.

Questioned about a bid for the forward by Germany daily WAZ, Allofs replied: "There's nothing to it."

And the sporting director was backed up by coach Dieter Hecking, who dubbed rumours of a Schurrle swoop "pure speculation".

Chelsea bought Schurrle from Bayer Leverkusen in 2013 and he is at present struggling to command a regular first team spot under Mourinho at Stamford Bridge.

The German is one of two players, the other being winger Mohamed Salah, heavily linked with quitting Chelsea in the current window in search of regular first team football.

Wolfsburg currently sit second in the Bundesliga, behind Bayern Munich, and on course to qualify for the Champions League next season.
