Injury fears around Roma midfielder Kevin Strootman have been eased following initial worries for the Dutchman last night.

Strootman was forced off in Roma's 1-1 Serie A draw with Fiorentina in just the 34th minute, with the suggestion of knee pain, being replaced by Miralem Pjanic.

That instantly set alarm bells ringing given Strootman has only just returned to action following a cruciate knee ligament injury picked up early last year and which kept him out of the World Cup, the latter half of the 2013/14 Serie A season and the opening months of the current campaign.

But Roma, via the club doctor, have let it be known that Strootman has no serious knee issue and is expected to train normally with his team-mates later this week. He will though have a precautionary scan.

The Netherlands international has been consistently linked with moving to Manchester United, with claims having been made that a deal has been done for the summer.

Roma however have taken an aggressive stance on keeping hold of Strootman and vowed he will not be sold to the Red Devils.

Giallorossi president James Pallotta said in December: "Strootman will not be joining Manchester United."
