Celtic midfielder Nir Bitton believes playing alongside club captain Scott Brown has helped them both flourish.

Bitton, who was signed by Celtic from Israeli outfit FC Ashdod in the summer of 2013, has featured in 16 of their Scottish Premiership matches this season so far. In their last nine league matches the Israeli has been a constant presence in manager Ronny Deila’s team.

He has scored a solitary league goal and his two assists came in Celtic’s Europa League fixtures.

The midfielder believes partnering Brown in midfield has been a fruitful proposition as the club captain’s expansive coverage of the pitch makes things easier for him.

“For me, it’s great to play alongside Scott because he’s full of energy and he’s everywhere on the pitch so it makes the work easier for him”, Bitton told Celtic TV.

However, the Israeli feels that things work both ways and believes he helps Brown operate too, which has enabled the team to flourish.

“But I also try to make the work easier for him too, and I hope the partnership will continue to grow”, he concluded.

Celtic currently sit atop the Scottish Premiership tree, three points ahead of their nearest rivals Aberdeen as they look to secure their fourth title in a row.

In an enticing Europa League round of 32 tie, Celtic are drawn to play Inter Milan when the competition resumes in February.
