Celtic defender Emilio Izaguirre has expressed his desire to win the domestic treble this year.

The reigning Scottish Premiership champions are sitting atop the league with 51 points, three ahead of their nearest rivals Aberdeen with a game in hand. Celtic are through to the semi-final of the Scottish League Cup where they are scheduled to play fierce rivals Rangers on Sunday.

In the fifth round of the Scottish Cup they will take on Dundee on 7th February and in an enticing Europa League round of 32 clash they have been drawn to play Italian outfit Inter Milan when the competition resumes in February.

Izaguirre said that there is always pressure on the club to be the league leaders and securing their fourth title in a row remains their first priority.

“There’s always pressure on us to be first in the league, that’s why we work so hard, that’s what we fight for and we hope to stay there and achieve what we want, which is the league title”, he told Celtic TV.

However, he added that their focus is on their next match which happens to be against their derby rivals Rangers in the League Cup semi-final.

“We always take it game-by game, so now the League Cup semi-final is the most important game for us.”

The Honduras international acknowledged that they are focused on winning the domestic treble, which he was quick to admit, will not be an easy feat.

“We would love to win the treble this year, and that’s what we’ll be fighting to achieve, even though we know it will be very difficult.”
