Jose Mourinho will not be drawn into commenting on allegations that Diego Costa stamped on two Liverpool players during Chelsea's League Cup semi-final win over the Reds at Stamford Bridge this evening.

Costa courted controversy early on in the encounter by appearing to stamp on Liverpool defender Emre Can in a tussle on the touchline. It infuriated the German, who squared up to the Chelsea striker.

And it has been claimed he stamped on another Liverpool player later in the game, as Chelsea ran out 1-0 winners in extra time through a Branislav Ivanovic header, handing them a 2-1 aggregate victory and a spot at Wembley.

Instead Mourinho preferred to talk about an incident in the first half when Martin Skrtel appeared to bring down Costa in the penalty box, but the referee waved away the Chelsea striker's appeal.

"I don't want to speak about decisions and decisions. If I have to speak to something I have to speak to something I know", Mourinho told Sky Sports.

"When a player stops a counter-attack with a handball it's a yellow card, when a player kicks a player in the box it is a penalty", he continued.

"Speak about Costa and the penalty he had, let Costa play his football."

Chelsea now wait to discover whether they will face Tottenham Hotspur or Sheffield United in the League Cup final at Wembley.

It also remains to be seen if any retrospective action is taken by the English FA against Costa.
