Leeds United new boy Sol Bamba has revealed that his Ivory Coast team-mate Max Gradel spoke to him about the reputation of the Elland Road outfit, increasing his eagerness to play for the Peacocks.

The 30-year-old joined the Championship side on loan from Palermo on Friday, with a view to making the deal permanent at the end of the spell.

While expressing his delight at having been given the opportunity to play at such a historic club, Bamba also thanked his national team-mate Gradel for having spoken so highly of the Whites; Gradel played for Leeds himself from 2009 until 2011, becoming a firm fan favourite in the process.

"He text me two days ago and said he’d heard about my move and he was happy", Bamba told his club's official site.

"He said I will love it here. He said the fans will be good with me if I do the business.

"He told me all the good things about the club and that gives me even more positive things about the club.

"He said only good things. I’m happy to be here and I cannot wait to get started."

The former Leicester City player will be in contention to make his debut for the club in their Yorkshire derby against Huddersfield, although it remains to be seen whether head coach Neil Redfearn will include him from the off.
