Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has backed goalkeeper Michel Vorm, in spite of him having gifted Leicester City a late winner during their FA Cup fourth round match on Saturday.

The Lilywhites conceded two late goals to lose the tie 2-1 at White Hart Lane, and thus were knocked out of the tournament.

The Dutch goalkeeper, for whom it was the ninth appearance of the season, was guilty of letting a weak volley from Jeffrey Schlupp slip beyond him in the 90th minute to hand the Premier League strugglers a surprise win.

However, the former Southampton boss refuses to ponder over the fault, insisting that it is part and parcel of the game to make mistakes.

"This is football. He made a mistake. Every player can make a mistake, we have full confidence in him and must give him support," Pochettino was quoted as saying by the BBC.

The 42-year-old also praised Vorm's attitude, revealing that his impression of the former Swansea City player will not change after just one performance.

"He made two big saves against Leicester. His attitude is fantastic and nothing has changed, in one action he conceded a goal."

The Argentine also took time to add that it would be normal for him to play Vorm for the League Cup semi-final second leg tie against Sheffield United tomorrow, as Spurs look to reach Wembley.

"I think it should be normal to play Michel. All games are important, and [overall he] had a good performance [against Leicester]."
