Serie B side Latina Calcio have shown interest in Leeds United target Edgar Cani.

The tall Albanian international striker is expected to quit current club Catania in the present transfer window – and speculation over his future only increased a notch on Friday evening when he was left out of his side's matchday squad for their 4-0 drubbing of Pro Vercelli.

Leeds are considered favourites to land Cani following Bari failing to agree a deal with Catania during recent talks.

However, according to Italian outlet Tutto Mercato, Latina Calcio also hold an interest in the 25-year-old.

There was recent contact between Catania and Latina Calcio over Cani, with Catania wanting to snap up Marco Crimi as part of any deal. No agreement though was reached.

Nevertheless, sitting bottom of Serie B, Latina Calcio remain desperate to increase their firepower for the second half of the campaign.

Latina Calcio, who beat Leeds to Federico Viviani last summer, have managed to score just 16 goals in 23 Serie B games so far, the fewest of any side in the division.
