The transfer saga surrounding in-demand Sassuolo striker Leonardo Pavoletti appears to be reaching its conclusion as Chievo Verona close in for the kill.

Pavoletti has been linked with a whole host of clubs throughout the current transfer window, including English giants Leeds United, a side he has already visited to look at their facilities.

Recently Gianfranco Zola's Cagliari have been pushing hard to sign Pavoletti as they look to add firepower for the second half of the Serie A campaign.

But the Italian's many suitors are now poised to be trumped by Chievo.

According to Sky Italia, Pavoletti has agreed to move to Chievo on loan until the end of the season, with Sassuolo happy to accept Slovenian winger Dejan Lazarevic coming the other way.

While Chievo's loan of Pavoletti will be a simple loan agreement, Sassuolo will have a purchase option slapped into their loan deal for Lazarevic.

It remains to be seen how Pavoletti's numerous other suitors will respond to developments, with several sides viewing the striker as the answer to their problems for the second half of the season.
