Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale believes that Cristiano Ronaldo’s two-match ban following for violent conduct in their match against Cordoba last weekend will help give him more opportunities to score goals.

Ronaldo has been handed a two match-ban by the LFP Disciplinary Committee after his sending off at the Nuevo Arcangel for kicking Cordoba defender Edimar in an off-the-ball incident. Following the Portuguese’s sending off, Bale scored a late penalty to give Real Madrid a 2-1 win.

The 2014 Ballon d’Or winner and Bale have been in scintillating form this season. Ronaldo has scored 28 league goals and added a further 12 assists to his name, whereas the Welshman has scored ten and assisted four so far this season.

Ronaldo is the designated penalty taker for the European champions and he also takes majority of their free kicks. His absence means Bale will have a chance to swell his goal tally.

In an interview with Spanish radio sports programme El Larguero, the 25-year-old admitted that he is looking forward to scoring more goals in Ronaldo’s absence.
