Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has advised his side to be cautious as they approach the second half of the season.

Pep Guardiola’s men, who are unbeaten in the Bundesliga this season, have built up a substantial 11-point lead at the top of the table over their nearest rivals Wolfsburg.

The defending Bundesliga champions have scored a league-leading 41 goals and conceded only four as they look to secure their third title in a row.

Rummenigge, however, has warned that the league is far from over and they need to approach the remainder of the season with humility.

“We’d be well advised to show great respect and a touch of humility and not approach the second half of the season in a euphoric state”, he told the club site.

“Mathematically, it’s not over yet by any means.

“Obviously, I understand that those who aren’t Bayern fans would like to see the sides more closely bunched in the table, but I have to ask for understanding here.”

However, the former striker acknowledged that the club has done extremely well so far, achieving their objectives while playing attractive football in the process, something he hopes they can quickly do when the Bundesliga kicks off once again.

“Bayern Munich’s task is to play successful and attractive football, and the team have done it brilliantly up to now. But we need to hit peak form very quickly.”

Bayern Munich resume their Bundesliga campaign with a visit to the Volkswagen Arena to take on Wolfsburg on Friday. Victory would take them 14 points clear.
