Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Ryan Mason has revealed that they will not take anything for granted against their League Cup opponents Sheffield United.

The north Londoners will face the League One outfit in the second leg of their League Cup semi-final clash at Bramall Lane with a one-goal advantage following their 1-0 win in the reverse fixture at White Hart Lane courtesy of an Andros Townsend penalty.

Mason has featured heavily in manager Mauricio Pochettino’s first team and has made 20 appearances in all competitions this season. His performances saw Spurs extend his contract until June 2020 recently.

The Englishman believes the Blades will give everything for a win which will make for an exciting cup tie.

“It will be a proper cup-tie now, a one-off game. We’ve got a lead from the first leg, I’m sure they will come at us and it will make for an exciting match”, Mason told the club site.

Reflecting on a number of unexpected defeats for Premier League teams by lower league opposition last weekend, the midfielder added they will not take anything for granted.

“It’s a massive game for us. There were a lot of shocks in the FA Cup at the weekend and we’ll take nothing for granted.

“We’ll go there and treat it like a cup final and it is to us anyway, we all want to get to Wembley and play in the final itself”, Mason concluded.

A win against the Blades this evening will see Tottenham Hotspur clash with fellow Londoners Chelsea in the League Cup final at Wembley 1st March.
