Inter Milan have contacted Lokomotiv Moscow to obtain information about their dispute with Celtic-linked midfielder Lassana Diarra.

The 29-year-old French midfielder has been a free agent since his contract with Lokomotiv Moscow was terminated last summer.

However, it has emerged that the club and the player are locked in a legal dispute which has put off some of his suitors from making a move for him until now.

Celtic have a long-term interest in the midfielder and he even appeared to be heading to the Glasgow club, but the legal dispute between Diarra and Lokomotiv Moscow has been a stumbling block for the club.

Borussia Dortmund and West Ham are also believed to be keenly following developments regarding Diarra and are waiting to pounce once the issues are resolved.

Inter Milan have been interested in the 29-year-old since last month and are eager to get a deal done for him before the end of the window.

The Nerazzurri are not prepared to take any legal chances with the transfer and according to Italian news outlet Tutto Mercato, club officials called Lokomotiv Moscow last night to clear the air around Diarra.

Inter are expecting updates from the Russians by the end of the day and are hopeful of resolving the issues to sign Diarra.
