Roma are eyeing CSKA Moscow forward Seydou Doumbia as a potential replacement target for Shakhtar Donetsk’s Luiz Adriano.

The Italians are burning the midnight oil to reach an agreement with Shakhtar Donetsk for Brazilian striker Adriano, but the deal is turning out to be more complicated than previously anticipated by the Giallorossi.

Though they are still confident of reaching an agreement with the Ukrainians, Roma are lining up potential replacement targets if they fail to land the Brazilian.

According to Sky Italia, one of the targets they are looking at is CSKA Moscow forward Doumbia, who has been in fine form for the Russian club this season.

He has scored ten goals in all competitions this term and was impressive for CSKA Moscow in a difficult Champions League group consisting of Bayern Munich, Manchester City and Roma themselves.

Liverpool, who are believed to be in the market for strikers, are interested in Doumbia and did send scouts to run the rule over him in CSKA Moscow's final Champions League group game, against Bayern Munich last month.

However, CSKA Moscow would want to defer negotiations over a departure until the summer and have slapped a €18m asking price on Doumbia.
