Chelsea have established fresh contact with Juan Cuadrado’s agent over a potential winter move for his client.

Since last week, Chelsea have made rapid strides in the window to get close to getting a deal done for the Colombian winger and it emerged yesterday that they are finally prepared to pay his full release clause of €35m.

Fiorentina are still waiting for the Blues to lodge an official bid and it has been speculated that Manchester United are prepared to offer €29m plus Adnan Januzaj on an 18-month loan to snare Cuadrado.

Jose Mourinho is personally driving the transfer saga and according to Sky Italia the club have established fresh contact with the player’s representative, Alessandro Lucci, to discuss a potential strategy that will see the 26-year-old wear the Chelsea blue by next Monday.

While they are not willing to sell Cuadrado so late in the window, Fiorentina are aware that they will be left powerless if Chelsea decide to pay the full release clause of the Colombian winger in the next few days.

It remains to be seen whether Manchester United do have one final card to play in the transfer saga to disrupt Chelsea’s plan to take Cuadrado to Stamford Bridge before 2nd February.
