Villarreal’s new recruit Joel Campbell is excited about helping his new team achieve their objectives for the season.

The Arsenal forward is on loan for the remainder of the season after failing to secure a starting spot in Arsene Wenger’s side, where he was behind Alexis Sanchez, Olivier Giroud and Danny Welbeck in the pecking order. Campbell has joined Villarreal as part of a deal which has taken defender Gabriel Paulista to the Emirates Stadium.

The youngster was one of the standout performers for the Costa Rica national team during their run to the quarter-final in the World Cup last summer.

Deprived of consistent first team action during his time at the Emirates Stadium, the youngster is now fully focused on making an impression with his new team.

“I’m very happy to be here and playing in the Spanish league, it’s a great chance for me to perform well in the second half of the season”, he was quoted as saying by AS.

“I’m ready to do whatever the coach needs from me and am anxious to be part of the club achieving its objectives.”

Campbell could make his debut for Villarreal when they take on Getafe in the second leg of their Spanish Cup quarter-final tie tonight.
