Moussa Sissoko is keen to quit Newcastle United in the summer for a club in the Champions League and Arsene Wenger's Arsenal are in pole position to scoop the Frenchman up.

Sissoko was strongly linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain this month, a switch he would have been open to making. But PSG coach Laurent Blanc vetoed a move for the midfielder, feeling his need is instead for a left winger.

According to French sports daily L'Equipe, Sissoko is resolved to leave Newcastle at the end of the season because he is desperate to play Champions League football in 2015/16.

He has interest from Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United. But it is the Gunners who are at present in pole position.

The 25-year-old, who has won 27 caps for France, is understood not to have made any decision over where he might move to yet however.
