Borussia Dortmund have quashed talk that they want to sign Andre Schurrle from Chelsea.

It has been suggested that the Ruhr giants see Schurrle as a potential replacement for Marco Reus, who could quit the club in the summer if his release clause is activated.

Wolfsburg have also been linked with moving to take Schurrle back to his homeland amid talk the forward is unhappy with a lack of regular first team football at Stamford Bridge.

But Dortmund are not in the mix for Schurrle, CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke insists.

Asked about speculation his side are chasing the Chelsea man by the Sueddeutsche Zeitung, Watzke replied: "There is really no substance to that talk about Schurrle."

It remains to be seen if Schurrle will still be at Chelsea when the winter transfer window slams shut on Monday evening.

Chelsea are thought to be scurrying to snap up winger Juan Cuadrado from Fiorentina, which would potentially restrict Schurrle's first team chances further.

Borussia Dortmund are currently in the thick of a relegation battle in the Bundesliga, sitting second bottom of the table.
