Ajax have moved quickly to tie up the signing of Daley Sinkgraven from Eredivisie rivals Heerenveen.

The 19-year-old midfielder, who will cost Ajax a fee of €6m to snap up, had also been strongly linked with Louis van Gaal's Manchester United, while Chelsea and Liverpool were also monitoring his progress.




But Ajax have moved quickly to ensure that Sinkgraven continues his footballing education at the Amsterdam ArenA and is kept out of foreign clutches.

 


The midfielder will pen a five-and-a-half-year contract with Frank de Boer's Dutch champions.

And he has wasted little time in expressing his delight at the switch.

Sinkgraven, speaking after playing tonight in Heerenveen's 0-0 draw with Dordrecht, told FOX Sports: "Finally, I am very happy.

"Now I will try very hard to do my best at Ajax.

"I'm going to aim for a place in midfield and I want to do that immediately."

Despite his tenders years, Sinkgraven has been a regular for Heerenveen this term, turning out 19 times in the Eredivisie, with a haul of four goals and two assists.

His contract with Heerenveen had been due to run until 2017.
