Louis van Gaal admits that Manchester United have failed to create enough chances in their last few matches, but feels his forward players also need to improve their finishing.

In their defeat against Southampton earlier this month, Manchester United failed to hit the target even once and Juan Mata missed a few guilt-edged opportunities towards the end of the contest.

Though they won at Queens Park Rangers the following week, again the chances were few and far between and they again failed to score against League Two opponents Cambridge United last week in the FA Cup, meaning a replay is needed.

Van Gaal admits that he was forced to change his system to create more chances and believes that they need to quicken their play to get more out of their creative players.

But the Manchester United boss also feels that his forward players have failed to convert the few chances that they have created and has urged them to find their finishing boots.

"It’s true that we have not created too many in the last two or three matches, but therefore I have changed system”, Van Gaal said in a press conference.

“We have to play more quickly because our opponents are defending and make a small space, so it’s difficult then to attack.

“Everybody knows that but we also need a little bit of luck and we have to finish the chances."

Though they lost the game against Leicester City 5-3 in September last year, Van Gaal will be hoping to see the same kind of attacking verve his team showed on that day when they face the same opponents tomorrow at Old Trafford in Premier League action.
