Liverpool are trying to agree a deal to sign Burnley striker Danny Ings before the winter transfer window closes on Monday, according to the BBC.

The 22-year-old has been in good form for relegation battlers Burnley this season and has scored seven league goals for the Clarets.

However, his contract is set to expire in the summer and he has already attracted interest from Tottenham Hotspur and David Moyes' Real Sociedad.

Liverpool are keen on signing another attacking option and the club are trying to reach an agreement with Burnley for the 22-year-old before Monday.

Reds manager Brendan Rodgers is also prepared to send the striker back on loan to Burnley for the rest of the season to convince the club to sanction his sale this month.

Liverpool will still have to pay a fee to the Clarets if they sign him at the end of his contract, as the striker is still under 24 years old.

Ings’ 21 goals in the Championship last season played a major role in Burnley earning their promotion to the Premier League and they want him to do the same in their bid to preserve their top flight status this term.
