Serie A side Genoa have won the race for Leonardo Pavoletti, officially confirming the arrival of the striker.

Pavoletti has been chased by a whole host of clubs throughout the transfer window, including English Championship outfit Leeds United.

The Italian even spent time in England with Leeds, looking at the club's facilities and even attending a match at Elland Road, as the Whites pushed to sign him.

But it is Genoa who have won the race for Pavoletti, signing him on loan for the remainder of the season with a right to buy should he impress.

Pavoletti has been handed the number 19 shirt by the Rossoblu.

Genoa are hoping to qualify for Europe next season and currently sit seventh in Serie A, just six points off a Europa League place and eight off the Champions League zone.

The Rossoblu have scored only 28 goals in 20 games, significantly behind several of their European place rivals, and will be hoping Pavoletti can add extra firepower.
