Leeds United manager Neil Redfearn feels that defender Sol Bamba made an instant impact on his debut today.

Bamba was handed his debut against Huddersfield Town in a Yorkshire derby today and helped the Whites run out 2-1 winners, goals from Sam Byram and Billy Sharp, the latter at the death, proving too much for the Terriers.

Redfearn, who threw Bamba into first team action following his arrival on loan from Palermo, was delighted with the Ivorian, explaining he can already see the difference he makes.

He told LUTV: "I think Bamba's made a difference at the back.

"He gives us that physical presence, that bit of pace and that bit of experience. And I thought we looked assured at the back."

Redfearn also feels that his side's age means that Bamba's experience is a string the Whites needed to have in their bow.

"We looked good in a tough game and we were solid.

"I said before Bamba came in that the average age of this side is 23."

Leeds have now picked up 32 points from 28 games, giving themselves some daylight over the bottom three sides.

Next up for the Whites is a visit from Brentford next Saturday, followed by a Tuesday night trip to Reading.
