Former Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy believes that Harry Kane is the best English striker in the Premier League at present by some distance.

Spurs eased to a 3-0 win away at West Brom earlier today, with Kane striking twice in an impressive win for the north London side.

The clamour is now growing for England manager Roy Hodgson to play Kane from the start when the Three Lions' Euro 2016 qualifiers resume again in March, with a clash against Lithuania.

For Murphy, Kane could strike up a productive partnership with Liverpool hitman Daniel Sturridge, who has just returned from injury and also scored today.

Murphy told BBC Radio 5 live: "Harry Kane and Daniel Sturridge could form an England partnership. Kane is the most in-form England striker in the league by a long way.

"If he continues the form he is in, Harry Kane, he has to start [for England]."

Kane has already notched 20 goals in all competitions for Spurs so far this season, with ten in the Premier League alone.

The 21-year-old striker is locked down on a contract with Spurs until the summer of 2019. His fine form has already seen him linked with a number of clubs however.
