Neil Redfearn believes that Leeds United should keep hold of striker Billy Sharp due to the impact he can have in front of goal.

Sharp has been out of favour at Elland Road in recent months, but Redfearn brought him off the bench against Huddersfield Town today in search of a goal.

And Sharp came up trumps, striking in the 90th minute to put Huddersfield to the sword and secure a vital 2-1 win for Leeds, which moves the club further away from the Championship relegation zone.

Redfearn was asked whether Sharp's poachers instinct means he must be kept at the club, following speculation he could leave, and he replied via LUTV: "I think so [that we have to keep him]."

Redfearn also praised Sharp's attitude on the sidelines, talking up his attitude as a professional always preparing to be ready for when called upon.

"To be fair to Billy, he's done things properly. He's a good pro. He's been a bit frustrated with things, but I understand that. But he's a good player and he's a finisher.

"It's been frustrating for him because we've been playing with one up front, but he's done things the right way, come on, buzzed around and got his goal", the Leeds manager added.

Sharp was brought on against Huddersfield in the 87th minute, almost instantly delivering the goods for Redfearn.

It remains to be seen however if he will command a starting spot for the club's next game, against Brentford.
