Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic believes that his side's 1-1 draw with Manchester City this evening was a result that both teams should be reasonably happy with.

Chelsea had to wait until the 41st minute to take the lead in a very even first half, with Loic Remy, in for the suspended Diego Costa, striking to hand Jose Mourinho's men the lead.

But Manchester City quickly hit back through David Silva, who drew the visitors level on the stroke of half time, sending the teams in 1-1 at half-time.

In the second half Chelsea dropped deep, staying compact and Manchester City started to push and put Mourinho's men on the ropes.

Chelsea could not register a single shot on target in the second half, with Manchester City putting them under severe pressure.

However, the Citizens could find no way through and the match ended as a 1-1 draw.

For Matic, a draw, which keeps the distance between the two teams at five points, is a result that Chelsea can live with and, he feels Manchester City will take too.

He told Sky Sports: "I think it was important for us and for them.

"To be honest, we expected three points from today, but I think a draw is a good result for both teams.

"We both had chances and there is still five points difference, the same as before [the game].

"We are happy because of that and I hope that we can continue."
