Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says he has no problem in splashing the cash on transfer deadline day if a good signing opportunity presents itself.

The Gunners recently added Brazilian defender Gabriel Paulista to their ranks, but Wenger has talked of adding up to two players this month, leaving room for one more.

The Frenchman is no stranger to doing deals on the final day of the transfer window, but at present he insists all is quiet.

However, if a good player does become available, then Wenger would not hesitate to pull the transfer trigger, even if at present he cannot see it.

"I don’t think I will be busy. We have done what we wanted and unless there is a huge surprise and somebody calls me – not the journalists, an agent – then why not?" he told a press conference, after Arsenal's 5-0 win over Aston Villa today.

"At the moment, nothing, it’s very quiet", Wenger added.

The Arsenal manager was able to say one thing with certainty however, which is that no players will be leaving the Emirates Stadium tomorrow.

Arsenal have now collected 42 points from their 23 Premier League games and are seeing their bid to finish in a top four spot pick up a head of steam.

Next up for the Gunners is a trip to arch rivals Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.
