Arsene Wenger insists that Arsenal need to play the waiting game to see if they can force their way back into the Premier League title race, while stressing he was bang on with his prediction for Chelsea's clash against Manchester City.

Arsenal ran out comfortable 5-0 winners over Aston Villa earlier today, in the process cutting the gap to league leaders Chelsea to just eleven points.

Despite Arsenal starting to pick up momentum in the business end of the campaign, the jury is out on whether they can challenge Chelsea and Manchester City for the title.

Wenger is also unsure whether their two rivals will drop enough points for that to happen and as such he is playing the waiting game.

"It’s too early to say [if we can be involved]. We are eleven points behind. That means they need to lose four games and we need to win four. I believe that we should try to be consistent and see what happens", Wenger explained at a press conference.

"I told you, you asked me my predictions [for the Chelsea-Manchester City match].

"I said a draw and I was not wrong because Chelsea had one shot on target and Manchester City three or four. It was a draw", the Frenchman added.

Arsenal will face an examination of their title hopes next weekend when they take on north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

The Gunners then host Leicester City at the Emirates Stadium in a Tuesday evening fixture.
