Borussia Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp was happy to take the point against Bayer Leverkusen yesterday in his side's first game since the Bundesliga resumed following its winter break.

The 0-0 draw at Leverkusen earned Dortmund a much needed point just after the winter break, but they are still rooted to the bottom of the Bundesliga table.

The result was only their fourth draw of a season where they have managed only four wins and suffered ten defeats. The club have been struggling to get out of the relegation zone, but the Dortmund boss feels the point against Leverkusen could be the start of something better in the second half of their campaign.

Even though they are bottom of the league at the moment, Klopp believes the performance against Leverkusen was a step in the right direction just after coming back from the winter break.

He admits that they could have played much better football, but also noted that one cannot expect eye-catching stuff from a team who are knee deep in a relegation dogfight at the moment.

“I’m happy that we have put in a good performance in the first game of the second half of the season against the most awkward side to play against in the Bundesliga”, Klopp told the club’s official site.

“It was not perfect, but we have taken what was needed and we took a good first step. One cannot speak of a relegation battle and demand champagne football.

“But it was totally fine.

“To get a point in Leverkusen is always a good result, and we are happy with the one.”
