Inter have agreed a loan deal with Newcastle United for full-back Davide Santon, according to Italian broadcaster Sportitalia.

Roberto Mancini's men are keen to snap up Santon, who played for them before moving to St. James' Park in 2011, before the transfer window slams shut tomorrow.

And the Nerazzurri have now put themselves in a good spot to close out the deal without issue.

Inter are proposing to take Santon on loan until the end of the season, with a purchase clause included in the agreement and set at €4m.

Should Santon make 13 appearances for Inter, then the club will be obligated to activate the purchase clause and sign him permanently from Newcastle.

Santon saw his start to the current season interrupted by injury and has only just returned to being in contention to feature.

The Italian is thought to be open to a return to him homeland and Inter will hope he can boost their bid to finish in the top three in Serie A this season.
