Roma are not prepared to pay the €2m loan fee that Tottenham Hotspur are asking for their Romanian international defender Vlad Chiriches.

The 25-year-old has been on Roma’s radar for some time now and the club have been trying to agree a deal with Tottenham since the start of the winter window.

With the transfer window closing down tomorrow, the Giallorossi are desperate to get a defender in and according to Corriere dello Sport, they have already agreed personal terms with Chiriches in a bid to smooth through the move.

Though Tottenham are ready to let the player, who is a not a regular starter at White Hart Lane, depart on a loan deal with the right to make the move permanent in the summer, Roma are reluctant to accept their terms of agreement.

Spurs are asking for a loan fee of €2m for the Romanian, but the Italians are not ready to fork out such a sum for a temporary deal and are now exploring other viable options in the market.
