Ronny Deila is convinced his Celtic team were worthy winners against Rangers today, pointing to the fact that the Gers did not have a shot on target in the second half of their League Cup semi-final, as the Bhoys ran out comfortable 2-0 winners.

Celtic wasted little time in taking the lead, with Leigh Griffiths striking in the 10th minute to stun Rangers.

A second then arrived in the 31st minute through Kris Commons, with Celtic threatening to overrun Rangers.

But despite Celtic continuing to dominate, especially in midfield, the Bhoys could not break open Rangers again.

It was a fierce encounter, but one in which Celtic utterly dominated and Rangers struggled to test goalkeeper Craig Gordon.

And, despite numerous bust-ups with players confronting each other, the match ran out of steam, with Celtic strolling to a 2-0 win.

Deila was quick to express his delight post match, with a nod towards the domestic treble which he is aiming to guide Celtic to in his first season in charge – and which is still very much on.

"It's a great win. It was a semi-final and now we are still going on to fight for the treble. We had to win this game and now we have to win the final", he told the BBC.

And Deila is convinced that Rangers did not deserve to stop his Celtic team today.

"It was a good game. In the first half we scored two fantastic goals and we created a couple of more chances.

"We controlled the second half and I don't think they had a shot on target so we deserved to win."

Celtic will now face Dundee United in the final.
