Tottenham Hotspur have rejected a €500,000 loan offer from Roma for their Romanian defender Vlad Chiriches and the player is now set to sign a new contract at White Hart Lane.

Roma have been trying to come to an understanding with Spurs for the Romanian international since the start of the winter window and were hoping to sign the defender for the second half of the season.

According to Italian outlet Tutto Mercato, Tottenham have rejected a loan fee of around €500,000 for Chiriches from the Giallorossi, considering it to be too low to be taken seriously.

Roma were trying to sign the defender on loan until the end of the season and reserve the right to make the move permanent in the summer.

But the club failed to agree to Tottenham’s demands for the player, Spurs being believed to be asking for a loan fee of around €2m for the Chiriches, a figure the Giallorossi are reluctant to fork out for a temporary deal.
