West Ham are still chasing Racing Genk defender Kara Mbodj and are hopeful of getting a deal over the line before the transfer window slams shut.

News of the Hammers' interest in Mbodj leaked out earlier today, but Genk boss Alex McLeish was adamant that the 25-year-old would not be sold.

However, according to Belgian daily HLN, West Ham's pursuit of Mbodj is still on as the Premier League side attempt to force through a deal for the defender against all odds.

Mbodj, who can also play in midfield as well as at the back, joined Genk in 2013 from Norwegian side Tromso.

He wasted little time in carving out a spot in the club's side and is highly rated by boss McLeish, who is not keen on losing him.

Mbodj represents Senegal at international level and has won 15 caps for the African country to date.

West Ham are now racing against the clock to take him to Upton Park.
