Serge Gakpe has opted to continue his career with Italian Serie A side Genoa and will join the Rossoblu in the summer on a three-year contract.

The 27-year-old attacker is out of contract at French club Nantes in the summer and was linked with English outfit Crystal Palace and Italian side Torino before the transfer window slammed shut this winter.

But according to French sports daily L'Equipe, Gakpe has committed to linking up with Genoa in the summer, when his contract with Nantes expires.

As a result the French side will not receive a fee for the Monaco youth product, who they snapped up from the principality side in 2011.

Gakpe, who can operate as a central striker or on the flanks, is a regular for Nantes and has made 20 appearances in Ligue 1 so far this season.
