Former Tottenham Hotspur boss Tim Sherwood has emerged as the frontrunner to become the manager of Queens Park Rangers following Harry Redknapp’s resignation yesterday, according to the BBC.

Redknapp, who joined the Hoops in 2012, oversaw the club’s relegation and their subsequent promotion last season. He announced his resignation with immediate effect citing health concerns yesterday.

QPR are currently lying 19th in the Premier League after collecting a mere 19 points from their 23 games as they fight to stave off relegation. They are yet to collect a point on the road having lost all their 11 away games in the league so far.

Sherwood’s last managerial stint was with Tottenham Hotspur, where he was appointed to lead the club in December 2013 following the sacking of Andre Villas-Boas. The Englishman lasted five months in the job before he was sacked in May of the following year.

The 45-year-old is in the running for the QPR job as their owner Tony Fernandes is looking to appoint a young manager to guide his team to Premier League safety.
