Ajax want Frank de Boer to make a statement firmly committing himself to being in charge of the club for next season.

De Boer recently admitted that he feels it is more likely than not that he will still be at the Amsterdam ArenA next term.

However, with their coach consistently being linked with other jobs, including at Premier League side Newcastle United, Ajax want De Boer to make a clear statement committing his future to the club for next term, according to Dutch daily the Algemeen Dagblad.

Ajax, concerned about De Boer's plans, have already sounded out Frank Rijkaard about becoming his successor, and want the issue of his future resolving soon.

De Boer has led Ajax to the last four Eredivisie titles, but faces a battle to bag a fifth this season.
