Saint-Etienne skipper Loic Perrin admits he does not know whether coach Christophe Galtier will still be at the club next season and says it would not surprise him for the French tactician to be approached.

Galtier has been strongly linked with the manager's post at Premier League side Newcastle United, with the Magpies set to move to appoint in the summer following handing John Carver the reins until the end of the campaign.

Perrin himself was courted by a Premier League club in the shape of Arsenal last month, but no move materialised for the club skipper.

But if Perrin himself will still be at Saint-Etienne next term, he does not know whether the same will still be the case for his coach, who he feels has done a fine job with the Ligue 1 outfit.

"I do not know if he will still be there next season", Perrin admitted to But Football Club.

"I think it depends on results, ambitions, maybe offers.

"Given the fact that he has done a good job it would not surprise me if he is approached.

"But then, he's good here", the centre-back added.

Saint-Etienne currently sit fourth in Ligue 1, seven points behind third placed Paris Saint-Germain.

The 48-year-old, who led Les Verts to the Coupe de la Ligue in 2013, has been in charge of the club since 2009.
