Alan Pardew says he is not expecting anything in terms of a reaction from Newcastle United fans on Wednesday.

Pardew left the Magpies to take over at Crystal Palace earlier this season, departing St. James' Park with the calls of many fans, who had been demanding his dismissal, ringing in his ears.

Now Pardew's Crystal Palace side are set to host Newcastle at Selhurst Park on Wednesday and it will be the first occasion he has come face to face with his former club.

But the manager, who insists he did a good job at St. James' Park, says he is not expecting any kind of reception from the Newcastle fans who make the journey to London.

"I thought I did a good job and walked out with my head held high, and so I'm looking forward to the game", he was quoted as saying by the BBC.

"I'm not expecting or hoping for any reaction."

Pardew also feels that he gave the Newcastle fans good times, although readily admits matters were difficult during the latter days of his time as manager of the Magpies.

"We had some great times together. It was not so great the last year, but on the whole my experience there was great."

Pardew's Crystal Palace currently sit two places and five points behind Newcastle in the Premier League standings. They can cut the gap to just two points with victory at Selhurst Park on Wednesday evening.
