Leeds United manager Neil Redfearn is delighted with his side's 2-0 win away at Reading this evening, feeling it is the best away performance they have had all season.

The Whites headed south on the back of a weekend home defeat to Brentford and looking to bounce back. And they started well, pressing Reading and enjoying chances, even if at half time both sides were locked at 0-0.

Redfearn's men made the breakthrough in the second half as Luke Murphy hit a long range shot which deceived the Reading goalkeeper, putting the Whites 1-0 up in the 63rd minute.

Marco Silvestri then saved well to prevent an equaliser, before at the death Steve Morison crossed well for Sam Byram, who nodded the ball home.

Redfearn was delighted and eager to praise his side's performance and victory, which he rates highly.

He told LUTV: "A great performance. I thought we showed real commitment and when the game was tight and it was 0-0 we worked hard to get there. In the end the game opened up, we got our chances and we played football when we could play, on a difficult surface.

"Defensively I think the whole eleven pulled together. It was as good an away performance as we've had."

The manager, who was forced to make changes with Giuseppe Bellusci, Tommaso Bianchi (replaced by Casper Sloth in the first half) and Alex Mowatt coming into the team, believes those who have performed well now have the shirts.

"The players that came in excelled tonight and they've put themselves in a position where they've got the shirt", he said.

"That's how you want your football club to be, you want your lads to compete and you want them to know they have to work hard and play well to stay in."

Leeds now have 35 points from 30 games, but following results elsewhere are still only five points above the drop zone.
