Juventus-linked Zenit Saint-Petersburg midfielder Axel Witsel has revealed that he has been a fan of the Premier League since his childhood days.

A crucial member of Andre Villas-Boas’ squad at Zenit, the Belgian international has been linked with a move away from the club in the last few seasons.

He was previously linked with a move to England with Manchester United and recently it has been speculated that Juventus have marked him out as a potential replacement for Paul Pogba in the summer.

Witsel stressed that he is unaware about the speculation surrounding his future, but indicated that he would love to play in England, with a Premier League club.

The Belgian admits that at some point in time in the near future he will leave Zenit to join a club in one of the top leagues in Europe.

“I know nothing of the rumours [surrounding my future], but I have been in love with the Premier League since I was a kid”, Witsel told Sportitalia.

“Sooner or later I want to play for one of the best clubs in Europe, but I am still young.

“Let see, what the future holds for me”, the Belgian concluded.

Zenit paid big money to sign Witsel from Benfica and are unlikely to allow the midfielder to leave Russia cheaply.
