Liverpool are ready to become embroiled in the race to snap up Brazilian defender Danilo from FC Porto.

Danilo has been in impressive form for the Portuguese giants and as a result a number of clubs have sat up to take notice of his potential.

Real Madrid have been strongly linked with Danilo, while now, according to Portuguese daily O Jogo, Juventus and Liverpool are also watching developments at the Estadio do Dragao carefully.

All Danilo's suitors face a potential hurdle though as the Brazilian's long-time friend Neymar is doing his utmost to make sure the defender ends up at the Camp Nou.

Barcelona's transfer ban means that they cannot sign players in 2015, but Neymar is hoping to persuade his friend to hang on at Porto and wait for a move to the Catalan giants.

Should Neymar succeed in convincing Danilo to stay put at Porto, the defender's suitors would be left disappointed and Barcelona would be in pole position to hoover up the 23-year-old when their transfer ban expires.

Danilo is a first team regular for Porto and has clocked up 20 Primeira Liga appearances in the current campaign so far, even chipping in with three goals from his defensive position.
